Here's a bottle with a genuinely fun backstory: two Neill cousins—Johnny of Samuel Gelston's and actor Sam of New Zealand's Two Paddocks vineyard—joined forces on this single pot still Irish whiskey. Triple distilled and aged 22 months in ex-bourbon casks, it then rests up to two more years in French oak that once held Sam's Pinot Noir. Expect a malty nose with strawberry and nutmeg, a rich palate of blackcurrant and gentle spice, and a marshmallow-jam finish. Lovely for slow evening sipping.
