Overview

Back in 1947, Ruffino bottled its first Riserva Ducale Oro to mark a standout vintage—decades before Chianti Classico's Gran Selezione tier even existed. It's still made only in strong years, Sangiovese-led with a little Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Colorino from the Castellina in Chianti hills. Around 30 months in Slavonian oak, barriques and concrete build its violet, cherry and plum notes with chocolate and spice. Decant and pour alongside braised beef or an aged pecorino.
