Ruffino's Chianti is where the DOCG story starts — this house poured the very first bottle to carry the Chianti DOCG seal in 1984. A blend built on at least 70% Sangiovese with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit comes from Tuscan vineyards planted 200-350 meters up on galestro soil, then rests in stainless steel and concrete to keep the fruit forward. Expect bright cherry and violet with a spiced, savory edge. Pour it slightly cool alongside a classic tomato-based pasta or a grilled burger.
