Most peach liqueurs start with syrup. This Austrian one starts with actual peaches: Roter Ellerstadter, Weinberg and Haven varieties grown in Austria's Oststeiermark region, pressed for juice and distilled into eau-de-vie by the Purkhart family, who've been at it since 1932. The payoff is fruit that reads true: fragrant, fresh, with a squeeze of natural acidity and a faint stone-fruit bitterness that keeps it from going candy-sweet. Bottled at 24% ABV.
