Distilled in Panama at Alcoholes del Istmo from local sugarcane molasses, this vintage rum spent twelve years mellowing in used bourbon barrels before a final year finishing in Ferrand cognac casks from France, part of Plantation's small-batch "Under the Sea" vintage series. Bottled at 45.7% ABV, it opens with peach, red berry, and orange peel aromatics, moving into honeyed apple, toasted nuts, and toffee on the palate, with a long finish of dark cacao and tobacco leaf. Pour it neat after dinner, or let it anchor a slow-sipped Old Fashioned.
