Pinot Noir grown 420 meters up in the Tuscan hills of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where limestone-and-clay soil pushes the grapes toward tension rather than weight. Vallepicciola hand-harvests in late August, ferments in temperature-controlled conical wood tanks, then ages the wine in barrique for 6-8 months. The result: pale ruby with violet edges, wild strawberry and cassis on the nose, and a fresh, lingering finish. Pour it slightly cool alongside mushroom risotto or seared tuna.
