In 1982, Perrier-Jouët tried 100 different vinification approaches before landing on its first rosé — a blend of 50% Pinot Noir (partly vinified as still red for color), 25% Chardonnay, and 25% Pinot Meunier drawn from crus like Aÿ and Cramant. Salmon-pink in the glass, it leads with pomegranate, blood orange, and red fruit, honeysuckle, and a brioche undertone from extended cellar aging. Pour it chilled as an aperitif, or alongside something a little savory.
Tasting notes
Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé is such a wellbalanced, superbly structured wine that lends itself to the most adventurous food pairings. “Try it with a rib of beef on the barbecue – it has the character and the charisma to rise to the occasion,” says Séverine Frerson. Other delicious pairings include duck breast with a blackcurrant sauce.
The eye: A distinctive salmon-pink hue.
The nose: Intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit, complemented by a hint of exotic pomegranate.
The palate: Lush and lively on the palate, it lingers into a full, generous finish.
