After selling The Prisoner, winemaker Dave Phinney went looking in Maury, a windswept mountain village in France's Roussillon, and came back with 40 acres of old vines. D66 is mostly Grenache, rounded out with Syrah and Carignan from 60-year-old plantings on black schist soil, then aged in French oak. Expect something dark and inky, with blackberry, plum, cedar, baking spice and a twist of licorice. Pour it alongside lamb chops or anything off the grill.
