Old Soul comes from Cathead Distillery in Jackson, Mississippi, where two high-rye bourbons—aged separately, then blended by nose and palate the old-fashioned way—come together in one bottle. It pours a deep amber and opens with vanilla and sugar-cookie sweetness, easing into rose, dried cherry, and toffee before rye spice and an earthy warmth carry the finish. Built for slow evenings, it's just as at home neat as it is over a single large cube while the Mississippi heat-driven maturation does its work.
Tasting notes
Color: Brilliant deep amber
Nose: Sweet notes of vanilla, reminiscent of bakery goods and sugar cookies, with hints of fresh leather.
Taste: Elegant and balanced mouthfeel showing notes of rose and dried cherry followed by toffee and baking spices. Rye spice and herbaceous notes appear mid-palate and into the finish.
