Noble Oak's Double Oak Rye takes the long way home. A high-rye whiskey rests first in charred new American white oak, then finishes in port wine cask staves for a second round of maturation. The result pours deep mahogany, opening with toffee, allspice, and oak before sliding into brown sugar and maple, and closing on a grainy, peppery rye snap. At 96 proof, it holds its own neat, on a single rock, or as the backbone of a stirred rye cocktail.
Tasting notes
Nose: Notes of toffee, allspice, wood, and rich grains
Palate: Notes of sweet brown sugar and maple syrup dissolve into a sharp profile of green pepper and grass, closing with austere rye grainy spice
