Rakija is the Balkans' answer to grappa, and Montenegro's take leans elegant. Made by Plantaže, the country's largest producer down in Podgorica, this loza is distilled from indigenous Vranac and Kratošija grapes — roughly 90% and 10% — then rested at least a year in stainless steel, so it stays crystal-clear and true to the fruit. Expect gentle, fruit-driven aromas over a rounded, very drinkable body. Serve it chilled to 9-13°C alongside dried figs, raisins, and walnuts, Montenegrin-style.
