Overview

More Info

Montelobos Espadin brings the smoke and soul of Oaxaca to the glass. Crafted at Palenque Montelobos in Santiago Matatlán, organically grown espadín agave is pit-roasted over encino and pine, crushed by mule-drawn stone tahona, wild-fermented in open pine vats, and copper-distilled three times. The result is 86-proof mezcal layered with damp earth, honey, citrus, and asparagus, balancing cooked and green maguey with nutty, herbal smoke. Sip neat, or pair with a fruit-and-artisanal-salt plate the way Oaxacan tradition intends.

Good Deal on Mezcal of High Quality and a Straight Cut

"Good Espadin that covers all the bases. Excellent price for mezcal-ritas, particularly a mezcal Manhattan. Excellent flavor, on the other hand, is absolutely worth drinking neat. If you've ever tasted the taste of paint thinner in mezcal, you'll understand what I mean when I say the cut is clean. Live long, Maguey!"

— Brodie S. (5/5)

A close buddy of mine suggested Montelobos to me.

"Even though this particular mezcal was my first taste of this unusual spirit, it was a fantastic introduction! My close friend told me about Montelobos. I was advised that this brand would be "a excellent mezcal for novices," yet the smoke was not overpowering and was actually pretty delicate. Additionally, I was taught that mezcal is best enjoyed at room temperature, but I actually preferred drinking it cold and straight. Consider serving it with slices of fresh, salty tomato and Oaxaca cheese. Delicious!"

— Blaise (5/5)

Currently, this is my preferred mezcal on the market.

"This is currently my favorite mezcal available. Mostly because this Montelobos mezcal is so inexpensive and fantastic to sip neat, I haven't tried many other mezcal brands. Thanks to this bottle, mezcal has become my go-to alcoholic beverage. I'm curious to see what else I can find for this price—or perhaps even higher—but for the moment, this is unbeatable. great acquisition"

Quite Tasty and Smooky

"We've never tasted mezcal before. I can't comment on how it ranks as a single drink because we used it in a cocktail. Although it didn't taste like bbq, it provided the cocktail a lovely, smoky flavor that was almost like mesquite barbeque. We had a great time with it."

Quite Smokey, Excellent Value

"One of my favorite alcoholic beverages is mezcal, and for the price, this is a really respectable offering from Montelobos."

— Zaviero (5/5)

For brand development, we purchased it.

"Although it's a pretty good mezcal, we bought it due of the company's dedication to sustainability and care for everyone involved in its creation."

Superb Mezcal Deserving Of Mention

"Although mezcal typically has a bad rep, Montelobos Mezcal Joven aims to change that. This mezcal combines an earthy smokiness with a medley of vegetal notes, citrus, and black pepper in its flavor profile. This spirit is so surprisingly smooth, it's an ideal candidate for sipping and mixing in exotic cocktails. I've offered a few of cocktail recipes for people looking for ways to employ this adaptable spirit, despite Montelobos Mezcal Joven's price tag being more than that of its more affordable competitors. OAXACA OLD STYLISH - Tequila reposado, 1 1/2 ounces – a half-ounce of Montelobos Mezcal Joven - A pure teaspoon of agave nectar - 2 drops of Xocolatl Mole Bitters (substitute Angostura bitters in a pinch) - One big All components (apart from the orange peel) should be combined in a standard rocks glass. Ice should then be added to the glass, which should then be stirred before serving. A SAINTED DEVIL: 3/4 oz. Montelobos Mezcal Joven, 3/4 oz. cherry liqueur, 3/4 oz. Fernet Branca, and 3/4 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake vigorously for 20 seconds, then strain into a serving glass and garnish with an orange twist or cocktail cherry."

Absolutely dependent on this thing!

"By coincidence, I came upon this mezcal and chose to taste it. Glad I did, too! It's smooth enough to enjoy either neat or in a cocktail. Totally addicted to this stuff!"

— Averie P. (5/5)

All-Time Best I've Ever Tried

"Since I'm Mexican, finding good mezcal in the US is difficult. This is the best I've found. Although I enjoy most mezcals, this is the best I've ever had."

— Lyndon D. (5/5)

The Mezcal Is Amazing

"The first time I tried it was in Tulum, and it was fantastic. My buddies finished this item I recently purchased in a weekend, so I assume they enjoy it as well."
