Maryhill's family-owned team works out of the Columbia River Gorge, and this Columbia Valley Viognier shows what Washington whites can do. Winemaker Richard Batchelor presses gently on a champagne cycle and lets part of the wine ferment with French oak staves, building texture without heaviness. Expect white peach, apricot and ripe nectarine woven with jasmine, honey and a whisper of dried chamomile into a long, juicy finish.
