Overview

MARTINI Extra Dry vermouth was launched, with great international success, on New Year's Day in 1900. The Company had been experimenting with the production of dry vermouth since 1890 in some foreign countries, such as Cuba, in order to compete with the French "sec" vermouth. A straw colored vermouth with a sharper perfume, it reveals raspberry, lemon and the subtler hints of iris. This aromatic wine is dry without being bitter, with a white wine base it allows the aromas to come alive in the glass.

★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ 3/5 AI Rating

Distiller users and Tastings.com call Martini & Rossi Extra Dry Vermouth a solid everyday Italian dry vermouth - lemon zest, dried pear, gentian, grapefruit notes at a velvety dry body. Unremarkable neat but essential in a Martini or 'perfect' Manhattan; a workhorse bar staple.

Vermouth is not only used in Martinis

"Since I don't drink martinis, I guess that the largest market for vermouth is people who do. However, as a cooking component, this spirit is fantastic. I use it to make pan sauces, gravies, and even the foundation for vinaigrette salad dressings when braising fish, such as walleye or cod. Put the vodka away and let your taste buds discover the other benefits that this place has to offer."

Maredudd (5/5)

Astonished in a good way

"I purchased a bottle of classic martini in order to taste it. I had the thought "I'll hate vermouth" because of Churchhill's statement that he wants his vermouth across the room where you can see it and it will not be anywhere near his drink. Well, I guess I'm not made out to be a world leader after all, as this vermouth gave my martini a lovely demension."

Xaver C. (5/5)

Old Reliable Vermouth

"Cocktail flavors with good balance. The flavor is quite constant throughout the year and will never offend. There isn't much more a vermouth could offer."

José B. (5/5)

Little flavor, just a touch.

"Very trustworthy brand and product; doesn't leave you with an unpleasant aftertaste or a protracted hangover."

Trefor (4/5)

It's a winner for Martini & Rossi.

"Really dry vermouth is crucial in a vodka martini. After trying a few different brands, Martini & Rossi Extra Dry is my favorite."

Rhoderick (5/5)

The optimum of dry vermouth

"Since I started drinking martinis more than 50 years ago, this vermouth has become a mainstay in my dirty martinis. I combine dry vermouth and olive juice to soak my olives."

Joaquin E. (5/5)

Fantastic as usual

"This is a tried-and-true, traditional dry vermouth. always satisfies the high requirements in our house."

The martinis that really count

"Dry vermouth was a staple of James Bond's Vesper Martinis. There is only one JB, and I apologize if that offends you."

Kawamura K. (5/5)

This is still the greatest in my cellar

"I've been purchasing this item for a long time. It serves as my benchmark for mixed beverages like a martini."

Krause D. (5/5)

It tastes fantastic on its own.

"I tried to create a martini, but I've never had one, so I'm not sure what it should have tasted like. Nevertheless, it was tasty!"
