Overview

Slivovitz is the Balkans' answer to eau de vie — clear, unsweetened plum brandy with centuries of home-distilling tradition behind it. Markovic's Serbian-made version starts with hand-picked, fully ripened plums, distilled in small batches and rested in oak, giving it a rounder, warmer edge than younger versions: ripe plum, toasted almond, and a whisper of vanilla. Serve it neat in a small glass alongside strong cheese or dark chocolate, the way it's poured after dinner across Serbia.
