Makashvili Cellar Khikhvi Orange Wine comes from Georgia's Kakheti region, where the historic Makashvili estate (dating to the 15th century, now part of Vaziani Winery) crafts small-batch wines from the rare native Khikhvi grape. Hand-harvested fruit ferments and ages on its skins and stems in century-old qvevri — the buried clay vessels central to Georgia's ancient winemaking tradition — for about six months. The result is a deep amber-hued orange wine with a full, stony texture and layered notes of honey, apricot, and nutmeg. Pour it alongside grilled vegetables, aged cheeses, or spiced lamb.
