Macallan built this Speyside single malt around Hogmanay, Scotland's spirited New Year's Eve, and the whisky wears that warmth well. It's a lighter, sweeter side of Macallan, drawn from first-fill ex-bourbon barrels plus American and European oak sherry-seasoned casks. Expect vanilla and baked apple leading into soft shortbread sweetness, toasted marshmallow, dried orange, fig and cinnamon, closing on butterscotch and fresh biscuit. Bottled at 43% ABV. Pour it neat by the fire when good company and a slow evening call for something festive.
Tasting notes
Palate: Soft velvety sweetness reminiscent of shortbread with a rich mouth
coating, vanilla sweetness, with lightly toasted marshmallow, dried oranges, fig and cinnamon.
Finish: Medium finish with sweet butterscotch and freshly baked biscuits
