Lucid's L.01 skin-contact bottling starts as a citrusy, orchard-fruit Chardonnay from Lodi fruit, then gets an unexpected twist: about 15% Viognier spends seven days on its skins before blending in, adding a faint golden hue and layers of tropical fruit and white floral aromatics. Aging in stainless steel and neutral oak, with a touch of acacia and apple wood, rounds things out with soft vanilla-cream-caramel-smoke notes. Pour it slightly chilled alongside roast chicken or aged cheese to let those skin-contact textures shine.
