Layer Cake's Mendoza Malbec comes from the Sea of Stones vineyard at the foot of the Andes, where deep alluvial cobblestones and glacial spring water shape a wine with real mineral backbone. The winemakers wait it out, hand-harvesting four to six weeks after neighboring vineyards to let the fruit ripen fully. The result: brooding black fruit, blackberry and plum, layered with mocha, dark cocoa, and earthy truffle notes, at 14.2% ABV.
