If you love Laphroaig's famous Islay smoke but want a sweeter layer on top, this one's a fascinating detour. It starts as the classic 10 Year Old, maturing in ex-bourbon barrels, then finishes in European Oloroso sherry oak. The result nudges the peat toward Manuka honey, cloves, leather and smoky bacon on the nose, with toffee, maple syrup and dark chocolate on the palate. Bottled at 48% ABV. Pour it neat with a splash of water on a cool evening.

Tasting notes

Nose:'Medicinal' notes of peat smoke and Manuka honey with strong cloves, leather, iodine and smoky bacon.

Palate: Sweet and aromatic with rich waxy notes. Followed by toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needle and cedar.

Finish:Lingering sweetness and smouldering peat smoke with nuttiness and a hint of brine.
