La Clandestine comes from Couvet, Switzerland — Val-de-Travers, the acknowledged birthplace of absinthe — where distiller Claude-Alain Bugnon revived a 1935 recipe by Charlotte Vaucher, quietly made for years before the country's absinthe ban lifted in 2005. Hand-distilled at Artemisia with wormwood grown right in the valley, it's bottled at 53% ABV and turns milky white the instant you add iced water, unfurling anise and herbal bitterness. Serve it the traditional way: slow-dripped water, no sugar, in a Frappé.
