One of only three working distilleries in Campbeltown, Glengyle revived a name dating to 1872 and now bottles its spirit as Kilkerran. This one spends its whole life in bourbon casks, and the payoff is bright and coastal: elderflower and vanilla up front, then pineapple, coconut, and a curl of gentle peat smoke. The malting still happens by hand at neighboring Springbank. Bottled at cask strength, so add a few drops of water and let it open up.
