Kentucky Owl Wiseman is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey blended by Kentucky Owl, the Bardstown-area brand founded in 1879 and revived generations later by descendant Dixon Dedman — a nod to the original label's old tagline calling it "the wise man's bourbon." Wiseman blends four-year-old wheated and high-rye bourbons with older 5.5- and 8.5-year Kentucky-sourced stocks for a softer, more approachable style than Kentucky Owl's higher-proof batches. Expect caramel, toasted grain, and light rye spice with a dry, lightly peppery finish. Pour it neat or over one large cube to let the layered blend open up.
Tasting notes
Aroma: With THE WISEMAN Bourbon the first thing you discover is a sweet caramel aroma, followed by a warming allspice lift, a sprinkling of citrus and a hint of oak.
Palate: THE WISEMAN Bourbon offers caramel and allspice which present an excellent flavor as the mildly silky liquid crosses the tongue. The allspice sticks around for a longer finish with caramel.
