Kavalan ex-Bourbon Oak dilutes the Solist ex-Bourbon with Kavalan spring water to 46% alcoholic strength. It is incredibly smooth with a soft sweetness, losing the harshness of the alcohol's edge. It has a clean and fresh tropical fruitiness with lingering vanilla, coconut and spices.

"I had high hopes for this brand because I know that their genuinely excellent products are very pricey, but this was a happy medium and it's not at all horrible. The fact that this whiskey is young and has typical bourbon barrel influence makes it even more outstanding, but at $150, you're basically paying for the fancy box—which is lovely, by the way—and the juice within isn't worth more than $50. It's fine but not outstanding."
