Holmes Cay - Sihhenge Pineapple Rum
This pure cane juice and pineapple rum is hand harvested from fresh cane grown on the surrounding farm. After milling on the self-built cane crusher, cane juice is fermented with wild yeast and distilled in custom pot stills designed by Mhoba founder Robert Greaves. It is then infused with just harvested Natal Queen pineapple for two weeks before bottling. The Natal Queen pineapple varietal is a low acid local pineapple type. The entire process of making this pure expression of local terroir takes place at Mhoba. Sihhenge means pineapple in SiSwati, a language of the region where Mhoba is based
