Herencia Mexicana comes from Destileria La Fortuna, a family distillery on a ranch in the Jalisco Highlands near Arandas, founded in 1865. It spent decades supplying other tequila brands before bottling its own label in 2003. This Extra Añejo rests in oak past the three-year mark, built from 100% Blue Weber agave still roasted in a brick oven for 48 hours. Expect copper-gold color, a nose of cherry, maple, and caramel, then honey, bitter chocolate, and walnut on the palate. Pour it slow, alongside dark chocolate or a cigar.
