Overview

"Hand crafted at the Distilleries et Domaines in Provence like it was in 1860, Grande Absente is made exclusively with the highest quality spirits and select botanicals, including a  full measure of the legendary botanical Wormwood, also known as Artemisia absinthium. What sets Grande Absente apart is the combination of French artisanal distillation techniques and high quality mix of regional botanicals which results in a great tasting Absinthe, a surprisingly refreshing drink that's out of this world."

A Wonderful Historic And Romantic Experience.

"Real good quality and great flavor. Makes a great presentation as a opener for a group of guests (artists). Put on a little Edith Piaf on the turntable and you are magically in Paris at the turn of the century. Give a nice mellow buzz."

Disappointing & Overpriced

""Mephisto and Lucid are my go-to absinthes. BUT on an impulse I did the “it’s more expensive, maybe I’m missing something’Grande’” I knew I’d read something about it but couldn’t remember what. Absente doesn’t have any of the charm or complexity of taste that makes true absinthe so wonderful. At half the price, Mephisto is terrific. In fact, if their pricetags were swapped I wouldn’t think twice and grab Mephisto every time. Seriously— Absente isn’t even an “also ran”. It turns out, what I had read about it confirmed my experience of it — it’s generally regarded as a phony. Don’t bother. ""

Decent Poser

""This, despite the name, isn't absinthe. It's an absinthe-flavored liqueur with artificial color and sugar added. Real absinthe has neither of these things, which is why it's classified as a spirit and not a liqueur. That said, this brand was my first introduction to the world of absinthe and it was pleasant enough to start me down the path of exploration into the real stuff. Now, thirty-plus brands later, I'm grateful for this neon-green poser and the door it opened for me. I just wish I'd started with a real one. ""

No Powdery Residue

"With all the herbs and spices that are infused while making absinthe, Grande Absente has done an excellent job of distilling their cordial, allowing one to enjoy all the anise hind-notes. Although, I have not found a single desert that blends well with Absinthe."

Quality

"Good stuff. Strong anise flavor as it should be without a medicinal after taste. Nice light green color that loaches well. Pricey? Yes. Delicious? You bet. If your looking to introduce someone to the taste of Absinthe, this is a nice way to start."

Not Good For Any Price

""It doesn't even louche properly. For as much as they are charging for this, it should be a very good absinthe, but is one of the poorer ones. You can have good absinthes shipped in from Europe for less that this sad on. ""

Grande Ansinthe And Temporal Adjustments

"An experience not unlike revisiting Paris 1880s. A subversive and sophisticated dabbling into forgotten realms."
