Glen Grant's Speyside stills are unlike any other in Scotland—an unusually tall, square neck paired with copper purifiers that strip back weight and let a light, fruity spirit shine. Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin bottler that's championed single-cask malts since 1968, drew this 22-year-old from a refill American oak hogshead, bottled at cask strength and left uncolored and non-chill-filtered. Expect honeydew and peach up front, cinnamon and pepper warmth, then vanilla, chocolate, and orchard fruit trailing into the finish. Pour it neat for a slow, contemplative dram.
Tasting notes
The whisky is floral and somewhat spicy, with prickling notes of pepper, chili and cinnamon on show. These flavours are joined by a deep, creamy vanilla, some honeydew melon, peaches, bright oak, chocolate, plums, apples and pears.
