This release from Goalong comes in the form of a young whisky, aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon casks, but the flavor profile is anything but young because of the fluctuating climate in the south-central region of China where each barrel was aged. Tasting notes

The temperature variance of the region has accelerated the ageing process and brings complex aromas of hazelnut and honey on the nose, with cinnamon, toffee and soft smoke on the finish.

It hails from Changsha, in south-central China, where frequent fluctuations in the weather add complexity to an already remarkable flavor profile mostly undiscovered by the American connoisseur. Goalong Single Malt ages for five years in ex-bourbon casks, with a mash bill that consists entirely of the vaunted Australian barley.

Goalong Maple Smash

Ingredients:

-2 oz. whiskey

-1 oz. fresh lemon juice

-1 oz. maple syrup

-3-4 sprigs fresh mint

-Ice cubes

Instructions:

1. In a mixing glass, add fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, fresh mint and muddle gently to release the flavors.

2. Add whiskey and stir until well combined.

3. Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes.

4. Pour the whiskey mixture into the glass over ice.

5. Garnish with fresh mint and serve. Enjoy your delicious Whiskey Maple Smash!
