The Glenrothes is just shy of its 150th birthday, but the Scottish distillery is stepping firmly into 2022 with a newly-launched single malt whisky expression, that happens to come paired with an NFT.The Glenrothes Scotch whisky distillery just released a highly-limited, 36 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt that will come with a non-fungible token (NFT) with art designed for it by The New Yorker illustrator Maddie Dai.With only 168 bottles to be had, Dai has put her special touch on this whisky experience with NFT artwork that melds the iconic worlds of Scotland and New York City.With the purchase of The Glenrothes 36 Year Old, it is said enthusiasts will first experience the NFT artwork on the whisky’s packaging before receiving it in their digital wallets.
Tasting notes
Delicate and balanced, the single malt smacks of orange zest, vanilla, light oak, fresh almonds and spice. It also promises a distinctive aroma of rose oil from aging in this particular cask and a rich mouthfeel that only comes with such maturation.
