From a sun-drenched, one-hectare parcel in northern Gevrey-Chambertin acquired by Domaine Faiveley in 2013, this Premier Cru Pinot Noir grows on fossil-flecked rock and clay, from vines planted as early as 1968. Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with aromas of small black fruits — blackberry, blueberry — before a powerful, warm palate of creamy tannins and a leathery finish. More nuanced than the house's Cazetiers bottling, it's built to age 15 to 20 years, though it already drinks beautifully alongside roasted duck or a wedge of aged cheese.
Tasting notes
Rich aromas of small black fruits emerge evoking the generosity of a basket of fresh blackberries and blueberries. Powerful, warm, pleasant and concentrated on the palate, it offers a remarkable explosion of aromas. The tannins are creamy and the lingering finish evokes notes of leather.
