The Massenez family has been distilling fruit in Alsace's Val de Villé since 1870, and their Williams pear eau-de-vie is part of the VRP range they've refined for generations. Ripe pears ferment for weeks, then distill at low strength to protect the bouquet: crystal clear, with pungent fresh pear skin and a whisper of white pepper on the nose, unctuous ripe pear on the palate, and a long finish of pear skin and black pepper spice. Serve it well-chilled, or over ice as a slow-sipping digestif.
