Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC is produced by the Elena Walch estate based in Tramin, in Italy's Alto Adige region, from vineyards planted between roughly 250 and 900 meters elevation on calcareous soils with clay, sand and porphyry. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented at cool, controlled temperatures in steel tanks, then rested briefly on the lees before bottling. The wine pours light straw yellow with aromas of ripe pear, white pepper and sage, and a crisp, mineral, saline palate. It is a dry, food-friendly white well suited to seafood and light fare.
