El Tequileño's Sassenach Select began as an unlikely friendship: actor Sam Heughan and third-generation master distiller Antonio Salles trading stories about whisky and tequila until they decided to blend both crafts. This reposado rests two years in American oak, then spends four months finishing in French oak—a double-wood approach borrowed straight from Scotch practice. Made with 100% Blue Weber agave from Jalisco's highlands and volcanic spring water, it opens with cooked agave and vanilla, moving into caramel popcorn and toasted oak. Pour it neat, or over one big rock.
