"Since several years ago, I've been buying and drinking E&J VSOP. I think it's smoother and doesn't leave a bitter aftertaste like their VS brand does. Unlike certain French brands, it isn't fruity and perfumed. Despite price rises over the past few years, it is still well priced. If they run out of stock, I'll go somewhere else and spend more money instead of getting a replacement."

"Is Hennessy XO superior to this? Since I haven't tried it, I don't know. However, after trying a few brandies in this price range, I have found that this one is the most adaptable. Although you don't have to, adding this into a cocktail is completely guilt-free at $10. It has a lot of subtle flavor nuances and tastes well on its own. Other brandies in this price range typically taste like oak and grapes. That's good, that's how brandy should taste, but E&J goes above and above. As others have mentioned, the E&J XO is also a wonderful price, but it's extremely sweet, almost to the point of being syrupy. In this sense, I believe the VSOP is a little more appropriate for cocktails, and you get to save a few dollars in the process. Two victories in one!"
