Meet a mezcal that celebrates jabalí, one of the wildest, trickiest agaves out there, so small and stubborn that few mezcaleros bother with it. The Martinez family of Santa Maria Albarradas, Oaxaca, has been distilling since 1943, and this bottling honors Don Epigmenio, whose two passions were music and mezcal. Expect a nose of banana, strawberries and cream, then a lively, peppery palate with gentle sweetness and bright acidity. Pour it neat alongside a cheese board or something sweet.
