★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ 3/5 AI Rating

Reviewers on The Lone Caner, Fat Rum Pirate and Rum Ratings call Don Q Gold a thin, light Puerto Rican rum — better as a mixer than a sipper. Vanilla and bourbon-oak notes come through, but reviewers say it's outclassed by Flor de Cana 4 or Cruzan at the price.

This rum deserves much more praise!

"Uncertain of what Stephen in Livermore is referring to. . . This rum makes simple cocktails rock hard. The original Pina Colada was made with this rum as well. I'll admit that it has a subtle flavor profile, but the way it blends is unmatched. Try blending with orange and pineapple juice or in a rum and coke or pina colada for a refreshing drink."

That might very well end up being your go-to too.

"If you give it a try, it might end up becoming your go-to as well. It is a fact that the majority of the people who live in the United States do not have access to the internet, and that is why the Internet is so important. I went to Puerto Rico for the first time in Mayagüez on a university trip thirty years ago. I never liked Bacardi, so I was delighted when the natives recommended DonQ. Since then, I've preferred it. The most recent acquisition is for creating hot buttered rum for the Christmas and New Year's holidays, but it goes with everything!"

Up to this point, one of the top rums.

"I've always loved Don Q rum, and this particular bottle doesn't let me down. It surpasses Bacardi in quality. Try Don Q, the liquor that Puerto Ricans on the island consume, if you're one of those people who buys Bacardi because of the advertising it gets. Smoother and much more flavorful."

ABSOLUTELY ain't Bacardi

"I spent the years 1968 to 1970 stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  I requested the locals' preferred rum, and I was given Don Q Gold. The flavor and aroma stunned me. To this day, I will only consume this rum. Don Q was the most popular brand at the time, and all of my Puerto Rican acquaintances on the island solely used it. Bacardi was a drink that was only consumed by tourists. To make it simpler to find here in the United States, we need to spread the word!"

Wonderful Gold Rum!

"You simply can't beat it for $20 for a handle (1. 75L). outperforms Bacardi or any other subpar rum. I love rum, so I was blown away when I used this to make my first cocktail. I'll always turn to this. It is superior than Plantation, Bacardi, and will compete with Mt. Gay in my book. This is now my new benchmark. Smooth and well-balanced rum flavor that mixes beautifully."

One Vintage Rum

"I'm not a particularly tidy person. So I combined this rum with lime juice, ginger beer, pineapple juice, coconut milk, and amaretto, and let me tell you. That was flawless! My point is that this rum mixes nicely and has a classic rum flavor. I also used it to make a rum cake, and boy did it shine through. One that makes me feel chic and takes me somewhere serene and peaceful. This rum is pure, smooth, and just requires a squeeze of lime to finish it. I will undoubtedly continue purchasing this rum."

Coby (5/5)

The best rum from Puerto Rico

"I've tasted a lot of Puerto Rican rums, but this one is without a doubt the greatest. without any strong directives, goes down smoothly. Simple beverage for shots. The Don-Q Anejo is undoubtedly an even better improvement."

Waqar P. (4/5)

Without a Doubt the Greatest

"Its smoothness, drinkability, and mixability are unmatched, and it also happens to be by far the most popular rum in its native Puerto Rico. Seize the opportunity!"

Amazing value considering what you get for the price.

"Very good rum for the price and the gold. Smooth, nicely spiced, and with just a hint of heat to make you aware that you are drinking real rum. Amazing value for the price."

Oliwier (4/5)

Pleasant and Silky Rum

"Without the aftertaste or bitterness of other rums, a smooth, sophisticated flavor improves any tropical beverage."
