Overview

Unlike most clear rums, Don Q uses a multiple distillation system to produce a cleaner, more refined, and more delicate flavor profile. So a Don Q drink will sip smoother than a drink made with another rum. So smooth, in fact, that you can substitute Cristal in a vodka drink, and most won't be able to tell the difference. It's then aged in American White Oak barrels to impart a touch more smoothness.

Only a few complaints, good value!

""This is not a rum that will blow you away, but it's a pretty good deal. Unlike some white rums, like George Ocean, this actually tastes like rum, rather than weird vodka. It doesn't have any really interesting flavors beyond the basic rum taste, but your guests won't know the difference when this is in your daiquiri. However, I believe Don Q will continue to be a workhorse in my liquor cupboard for some time to come. I'll keep some Plantation Three Star on hand for exceptional occasions."

— Salome D. (4/5)

Don Q Cristal Is A Superb Rum

"Don Q Cristal is very transparent with little silt flecks. Alcohol has consistent legs. There is a faint molasses and oak scent. With alcohol present, those ingredients provide the flavor. Don Q Cristal has a medium body and a lengthier than average finish. RJT"

— Merciere V. (5/5)

Don't pass up this opportunity!

"These reviews are all incredibly accurate! The best white rum available! It makes sense why it outsells Bacardi by about a 3 to 1 margin in Puerto Rico, where they both originate. Stick with Bacardi if you only drink rum for the brand; otherwise, there are better options available."

— Dutterell N. (5/5)

Even superior to Bacardi!

"We recently came back from a trip in Puerto Rico, the home of both Don Q and Bacardi. First off, native Puerto Ricans prefer Don Q to Bacardi because they consider it to be excessively commercial. We consumed Don Q throughout our entire vacation in Puerto Rico, and now I am a major fan! Don Q is your best bet if you want the finest rum from Puerto Rico!"

— Cengiz D. (5/5)

Puerto Ricans' preferred rum! like the Scotch Scotts beverage.

"Just know that for decades, Puerto Ricans were content for the other rum to be transported out to the rest of the globe so they could have the entire supply of Don Q for themselves. As a result of a significant number of Puerto Ricans leaving the island, they have asked for this quality rum to be sold everywhere. You only need to be aware of that."

— Eulálio S. (5/5)

The preferred rum from Puerto Rico

"Avoid that other bitter Cuban rum currently produced in Puerto Rico. This is the genuine Puerto Rican rum and a resounding local favorite. For smooth, pure rum that never leaves a foul taste, it is four times distilled. Try it with passion fruit or coconut water! Yum!"

— Escalante L. (5/5)

In the entire world, Don Q is the best rum.

"The Serrallés Distillery is located in Ponce, where I was born and raised. Don Q is preferred by everyone on the entire island over Bacad. The issue is that Bacard is advertised more widely outside of Puerto Rico, leading many consumers to believe that Bacard is a rum produced in Miami. In any case, we don't want to reveal our secret to everyone."

— Gladys B. (5/5)

Exceptional Rum For Daiquiris

"This rum is excellent for making daiquiris and is quite smooth, making it a suitable choice for people who might not normally like rum. Try: Don Q Cristal, 2 oz. Freshly squeezed lime juice, 1 ounce 2:1 Cane Sugar Syrup in 1/2 oz. Add a wedge of lime as a garnish. Oh, this is perfect for a daiquiri! Great Rum For Daiquiris"

— Lipsey1221 (5/5)

Outstanding Option For An Ice Cold Daiquiri

"I've never tried Don Q Crystal before. I purchased it in order to prepare daiquiris, and I was really pleased with the outcome. It became quite chilly in the shaker and was the ideal temperature for the syrup and lime juice."

— Meirion F. (4/5)

Try it without hesitation!

"I've been drinking rum for years, and Don Q is the only white rum that comes close to matching it in terms of crispness, freshness, cleanliness, and smoothness. Although it almost tastes like vodka when cold, the purity really lets you taste the sugar cane. According to family members who have visited Puerto Rico, this is the natives' preferred option, and it makes sense why. I can only drink white rum like this neat, and it mixes beautifully too. This is a need for the liquor cupboard, particularly in the summer."

— Karoline G. (5/5)
