From a remote village tucked into the mountainous forests of Oaxaca's Mixteca Alta, this single village mezcal is crafted by mezcalero Roberto Gutierrez Ramirez beside a river. Espadin agave gets roasted over oak and tepehuaje wood, milled by hand with mallets, then distilled in a small galvanized steel still with a clay condenser. The result pours bright and sweet, with papaya and ripe peach on the nose and a lightly floral palate. Bottled at 48% ABV. Sip it neat and slow, or build a bright agave cocktail.
