David Nicholson 1843 is a Kentucky straight bourbon made by Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, carrying on a recipe David Nicholson first mixed in the back of his St. Louis grocery store in 1843. It's a wheated mash bill — corn, wheat, and malted barley, aged in new charred oak. Expect honey and butter on the nose, vanilla and oak underneath, then a smooth start that turns woody and smoky, finishing long and warm with a touch of spice. Pour it neat or over one large cube.
Tasting notes
Rich aromas of honey and butter, as well as subtle hints of vanilla and oak, can be scented from the glass. Upon sipping, an exceptionally smooth start is followed by woody and smoky tones, with a long, warm finish and a touch of spice.
