Overview

Cruzan Vanilla Rum comes out of the Cruzan Rum Distillery at Estate Diamond in Frederiksted, St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the brand has been distilling since the 1760s. This flavored rum leads with bold, natural vanilla up front, rounding into warm caramel and a creamy, almost buttercream-like finish. Built for dessert-leaning cocktails, it shakes up well in a Key Lime Pie martini, stirs into a root beer float, or pours over vanilla ice cream for a quick affogato-style treat.

Tasting notes

The rich vanilla flavor adds a creamy, whipped taste to dessert-flavored cocktails like our Cruzan® Cheesecake or Orange Dreamsicle.

I ENJOY the flavor.

"I watched a YouTube video that said this was the British Navy's favorite rum. I was curious and delighted to become a devoted supporter. Straight up has a smooth, pleasant flavor with a sweet vanilla aftertaste."

— Biermann33 (5/5)

An extraordinary rum

"An superb rum that is tasty, mild, and smooth enough to be consumed neat. No bite, just a deliciously balanced refreshing vanilla flavor that can be used to bake your favorite cake or pastry without adding any bite."

— Omehia V. (5/5)

I always drink this rum.

"I always drink this rum. I just adore it. It's sweet, but not Malibu sweet, and it has a relatively low alcohol concentration, which is excellent for me because I drink for enjoyment rather than to become wasted. That makes the party last longer."

— Pillair Y. (5/5)

Fantastic for baking also. .

"In some of the cakes we make for friends and entertaining, my wife and I keep a hidden ingredient called Cruzan Vanilla Rum. We often use Cruzan Vanilla Rum in place of rum when a recipe calls for it, and the result is always a hit with the crowd."

— Kharyell T. (5/5)

Courteous curbside assistance!

"Recently, it has been difficult to find my favorite rum, but due to Tipxy & More, I was able to pick up a few bottles to get me by. extremely efficient and friendly curbside service!"

— Linville (5/5)

Wine that moves the party.

"This wine is so exquisite that it gets everyone up and dancing. Everyone would like having this throughout the party because it is smooth enough to be sipped or combined with a cocktail."

— Greene342 (5/5)

I will be coming back for more. . .

"Because of its flavor, smoothness, and ability to blend nicely with various beverages, this rum is a personal favorite of mine. Without a doubt, I would return for more."

— Piazza D. (5/5)

What an amazing RUM!

"The vanilla coke I brewed with this and coke zero was superior to anything Coca-Cola themselves could have produced. Amazing, particularly given the cost. Unquestionably a bargain at the price."

— Obasanjo (5/5)

This is a really fantastic mixer.

"Very sweet and silky. Look no farther if you enjoy vanilla and rum. Excellent for parties and blends well with ginger ale or coke."

— Padovesi D. (5/5)

Product quality from CRUZAN is much higher.

"The excellent CRUZAN goods should be available in every bar. The coconut rum and vanilla are both excellent!"

— Babangida E. (5/5)

What people across the internet are saying

★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ 3/5 AI Rating

Reviewers on Rum Ratings and Capn Jimbo give Cruzan Vanilla mixed-to-positive marks. Earned Silver Medal (Highly Recommended) from Beverage Testing Institute. Tasters cite intensely sweet vanilla, caramel undertones, and a syrupy mouthfeel at only 21% ABV. Tastes more like a liqueur than rum—solid for tiki and tropical cocktails.
