Here's a Scotch that started with a color. Compass Box runs a bartending competition called The Circle, and 2019 winner Mannie Monaghan—who experiences aromas as color—set out to bottle the warmth of living coral. The result leans tropical: pineapple and stewed peach on the nose, then vanilla, honey and Cognac-soaked sultanas, built from Glen Elgin and Speyburn malts with Oloroso sherry cask influence. Bottled at 46%, natural color, un-chill-filtered. Pour it neat on the porch as the sun drops.
Tasting notes
We love the bright pineapple and stewed peach aromas that leap out of the glass. The flavour is of vanilla, honey and sultanas soaked in Cognac
