If you love a whisky that leans into warm baking spice, Compass Box's The Spice Tree is a discovery worth making. This blended malt Scotch matures in custom hybrid casks built with heavily toasted French oak heads from centuries-old Vosges forests and American oak bodies. The nose brings clove, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, while the palate turns full, round and sweet with spice wrapped around fruity maltiness. Bottled at 46%, natural colour and non-chill-filtered. Pour it after dinner alongside cheese, chocolate or spice cake.
Tasting notes
Nose: Fragrant and aromatic with notes of dried herbs, spices, oak and vanilla. Has a bourbon note to it and a peppery tang.
Palate: Gingernut biscuits, toffee spices, herbal, vanilla, very rich and peppery.
Finish: Very spicy, big and rich.
