"This rum much outperforms the original. The original is thin in comparison and leaves a hard and unpleasant aftertaste. This rum has a wonderful caramel and vanilla flavor and is smooth and flavorful. I take my rum neat, at room temperature. You probably won't enjoy this on its own, or any rum for that matter, if you have to combine it with soda."

"For a while, I preferred Capt Morgan before switching to Kraken Black Spiced Rum. I was present for a business gathering for the guitar industry (open bar). When they didn't have The Kraken but did have Captain Morgan Private Stock, I was a little let down. I took a chance and requested the bartender to add only a splash of Coke to this since I had never tried it before. I came back to our table and drank. Not your typical rum, this one. It had a strong flavor and perfume that surprised me. It had a pleasant, comfortable finish that was smooth. I believe the next time will be straight up on the rocks because the wine was sprayed with Coke. I don't think it needs anything from Edison."
