Extremely Underrated Rum

"This rum much outperforms the original. The original is thin in comparison and leaves a hard and unpleasant aftertaste. This rum has a wonderful caramel and vanilla flavor and is smooth and flavorful. I take my rum neat, at room temperature. You probably won't enjoy this on its own, or any rum for that matter, if you have to combine it with soda."

— Quetzal (5/5)

I don't think you need a Coke.

"For a while, I preferred Capt Morgan before switching to Kraken Black Spiced Rum. I was present for a business gathering for the guitar industry (open bar). When they didn't have The Kraken but did have Captain Morgan Private Stock, I was a little let down. I took a chance and requested the bartender to add only a splash of Coke to this since I had never tried it before. I came back to our table and drank. Not your typical rum, this one. It had a strong flavor and perfume that surprised me. It had a pleasant, comfortable finish that was smooth. I believe the next time will be straight up on the rocks because the wine was sprayed with Coke. I don't think it needs anything from Edison."

— Sienna G. (5/5)

Bought this after a buddy recommended it.

"Upon a friend's recommendation, I bought this. Before, I didn't care for spiced rum on the rocks, but this is flavorful and well-balanced. It works well when I don't want the whiskey's burn. The modest premium price is justified for this."

— Harry B. (5/5)

Most Valuable Captain Morgan

"Private Stock is a smooth rum that tastes fantastic either consumed neat or mixed. It's a terrific value for the price (with sweetened tea was great). Perhaps the finest rum I've encountered in this price range."

— Inmengar (5/5)

Captain Morgan's rum is extremely addictive.

"I'm addicted to this Captain Morgan Private Stock Run that my father purchased. It's extremely smooth. I take it straight up with ice! The box has lovely aesthetics. This rum, in my opinion, is absolutely worth the price. This is going on my bar cart!"

— Logan9 (5/5)

Oh Happy Day and A Rum Bottle!

"This rum is excellent. Very calm, somewhat sweet, and so simple to take! Excellent flavor and a lovely warm aftertaste. My favorite rum, which I will keep purchasing! Much superior to Kracken!"

— Hasting40 (5/5)

Flowy Sipper

"Suggested by one of the staff members, and he was correct! Such a treat, especially with some dark chocolate. No mixer required; a fantastic dinner. Over pumpkin bread and ice cream, we discovered, it's fantastic!"

— Alejandro-Blair (5/5)

The aftertaste is fantastic.

"Private stock is the best option if you want a captain with good taste but not much bite. It has such a pleasant aftertaste and pairs nicely with coke."

— Dylan C. (5/5)

Although a bit costly, it is unquestionably worth it!

"You're going to adore this exclusive stock if you like Captain. Smooth and delicious either by itself or in your own combination. Much better than the standard fare. Although a bit costly, it is unquestionably worthwhile."

— Archie N. (5/5)

Beautiful and Cozy

"I believe that this rum should only be consumed neat; keep a bottle on hand at all times. Two to three fingers in a small snifter can help you go asleep with pleasant dreams."

— Ignac32 (5/5)

What people across the internet are saying
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ 4/5 AI Rating

Reviewers on Honest Booze and Rum Howler praise Private Stock as Captain Morgan's most premium spiced expression, citing sweet vanilla, cinnamon, toffee and honey from over two years in charred oak. At ~$22, called mellow enough to sip neat with few competitors at the price.
