Tequila 1940 gets its name from founder Don Ricardo Lopez's birth year, tying every bottle to his family's roots growing blue agave in the mineral-rich highlands of Jesus Maria, Jalisco. Mature agaves rest in masonry ovens for 30 hours before a slow natural fermentation with the distillery's own house yeast strain, then a gentle run through copper-lined stainless stills. Expect cooked agave and herbs up front, white pepper and warm citrus underneath. Pour it neat to taste the highlands, or shake it into a Paloma.
