Overview

Bumbu XO is proof rum can age like fine whiskey. Distilled and aged in Panama, it rests in ex-bourbon barrels for years before a finishing stint in Spanish white oak sherry casks — the kind of two-stage maturation typically reserved for scotch. The result: toffee, toasted oak, and vanilla up front, opening into orange zest, peppery spice, and a whisper of coffee. Sip it neat with a single ice cube, or let it anchor an Old Fashioned where its sherry-cask depth really shows.

★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ 3/5 AI Rating

Reviewers on Fat Rum Pirate, All At Sea and Rum Ratings give Bumbu XO mixed reviews - balanced toffee, orange marmalade, cinnamon and Christmas-pudding spice from sherry-cask finishing. Critics call it competitively priced at ~$40 for an 18-year rum, but note minimal oak character expected at that age.
