Comfort “food” version of single malts
"Tonight’s dram takes me to the Pacific Northwest to the Bird Creek Distillery in Portland, Oregon. Their Full Pint barley (a cross-breed of two barley’s by the “other OSU” – Oregon State University) dram at cask-strength opens with caramelized dark brown sugar, toasted nuts, graham crackers, vanilla, and dates; followed by malted milk chocolate, candied orange peel, maraschino cherries, and rum-soaked fruitcake; finishing with semi-sweet chocolate, cinnamon, toasted oak, and creamy dark caramel. The thick-clingy legs and heavy-cream full-mouthfeel deliver a long spicy dark camp-firey finish. This is the comfort “food” version of single malts – sip til you’re in a coma. This is my first dram from Bird Creek, but it definitely won’t be my last. Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often."
