Distilled in 2007 at Speyside's smallest working distillery and bottled at cask strength in 2018, this single malt skips chill-filtration and added color entirely. Matured across first-fill sherry and bourbon wood in Benromach's earthen-floored dunnage warehouses, it opens with smoke and honeyed sweetness before turning oily and full-bodied — burnt oak, brown sugar, and cooked orchard fruit dusted with baking spice, finishing long and warm with vanilla and a whisper of salt. Pour neat after dinner, or alongside slow-smoked meats that mirror its BBQ-leaning character.
Tasting notes
Finished in sherry and bourbon casks at cask strength, Batch 1 delivers notes of thistle honey, medium peat, toasted cereals, graham cracker crust and lemon zest, with a lingering whiff of smoke and spice.
