Armenia has been making brandy since before most of the world was paying attention, and Ararat's Akhtamar is a lovely place to meet it. Named for a lakeside love legend, it blends more than fifteen distillates from indigenous white grapes, then rests ten years in Caucasian oak. Expect amber depth and a soft, layered pour of dried apricot, walnut, and vanilla, with warm cinnamon and toasted oak on the finish. Sip it neat after dinner, unhurried.
