Overview

Angostura 1919 is a specially blended multiple award winning rum, which celebrates a very particular date in the development of the rum industry in Trinidad & Tobago, as well as the Caribbean.

After a fire in 1932, which destroyed the Government Rum Bond, the master blender of Fernandes Distillers, J.B. Fernandes, bought the charred casks, only to discover they had been filled in the year 1919.

The prized rum was skillfully blended and called "1919 Aged Rum."

Among sipper rums, this one has the most distinctive nose.

"Compared to other sipper rums I have smelled, this one has the most distinctive aroma. It has a strong vanilla flavor and may also contain orange peel and candy. When rums were compared, its nose stood out the most. The taste is where it falls short. not as complicated as some. Given how sweet and light it tastes, it might benefit from a higher ABV. Considering how alluring the nose is, I would still purchase more."

Consider Pirates!

"My son, a merchant marine, brought this to my attention. He transported it to Hawaii from Jamaica. Before, I would always blend rum with anything else, but this rum is fine and is meant to be sipped. Enjoy the flavor's rich sweetness. It was difficult to discover, but we did while in Washington!"

Consuming Over Ice

""At the Westin Tarpon Point in Cape Coral, Florida, my friends and I were enjoying "1919" over ice while taking in the breathtaking views of the harbor and bay. First rate Westin amenities, service, lodgings, and food. Try it everything; the Mariner Suite is fantastic!""

Excellent By Itself Or With Dessert Dairy

"This is similar to Appleton Estate, but with greater flavors. extra vanilla extra caramel Smooth. paired with vanilla ice cream, would taste fantastic. But I prefer to take long, slow sips of it in very small amounts. Perfect for sipping, it."

Delicious Rum

"Okay, I recall when a bottle of rum was $30. 00, then the price went up $10 over night. It was fine rum for $30, but not worth $40. I suggest Doorley's XO, which retails for $15 and is excellent for sipping. Please avoid mixing it with anything."

A mixer costing $50

"A $50 40 proof Rum burns with far too much alcohol. The flavor is excellent and complex, however it is unpleasant while you are attempting to extract the flavors while your mouth is on fire."

Opulent Beverages

"I've tried a lot of rums, and this one is by far the most distinctive and delicious. Drink it straight up on the rocks or mixed with Caribbean coconut water."

This is an overrated one.

"This one has been overrated. Although it tastes excellent with coke or sprite with it, I'm not sure what the fuss is about it."
